Forget the stereotype of women being no good in casinos because they are too shy and don’t like to risk anything. New figures released by the UK online casino Roxy Palace have revealed that more women than ever are placing bets online, and that women are more likely to risk more cash than men too.
Those over at PokerBonus note how Roxy Palace’s statistics show that there has been a 20% increase in the number of women betting during the past year. It was also revealed that women are more likely to bet more – almost 18% more money than male players to be exact. Female gamblers are also more loyal to sites than male gamblers.
Ok, so a woman gambling online is a bit different to playing in casinos, but there’s no reason not to think that women who start playing games online won’t then have the confidence to go into a brick and mortar casino and play these same games face-to-face. Casinos can be daunting places if you are inexperienced in table games, especially as there is still clearly an anti-women bias in most casinos.
A spokesman for Roxy Palace said: “historically gambling has always had a male-heavy image, especially in brick and mortar casinos. However, over the past few years we’ve noticed a surge in the number of women playing games on our site.?
The spokesman also added his view on the issue of confidence: “I think for many gamers, particularly female poker genius players the thought of walking into a casino can seem a little daunting, but by playing online in the comfort of their own home they’re able to enjoy the same excitement without any of the associated hassle.”
