I noticed the other day that Sam Trickett, of Nottingham, has won the 2010 PartyPoker.com World Poker Open crown in London.
Very cool and congratulations to Sam.
Coming off a final table appearance at EPT Vilamoura less than two weeks ago, Sam breezed through his opening heat at the Palm Beach Casino, Mayfair and outplayed a tough final table to bank the event’s $200,000 first-place prize.
Another British player, Toby Lewis fell third while Trickett was forced to tangle with Yevgeniy Timoshenko heads up for the title, only pushing past him when he rivered two pair against the Ukrainian-American’s top pair.
Trickett now appears to be one of the hottest players in the UK heading into the World Series of Poker Europe in the British Capital.
Can’t wait. Wish I could get away for the weekend to watch it.
He had six cashes at the 2010 WSOP for almost $700k, including one-final table and a seventh place finish in the $25k Six-Max event.
Here’s how the Open final finished up:
1 Sam Trickett – $200,000
2 Yevgeniy Timoshenko – $110,000
3 Toby Lewis – $75,000
4 Juha Helppi -$35,000
5 John Duthie – $25,000
6 Andrew Robl -$20,000
7 Dale Hoy – $15,000
So If you are in London… check it out.
And more important, a note to my correspondents: let all of us know as much details as you can provide. OK?
