Italian Player Rakes in 80,000 Euros in Barcelona No Limit Hold ’em Tournament

While most of the world watched Barcelona defeat Manchester United in football, Italian Pasquale de Simone reigned in Spain at the Full Tilt Series, at the Casino Barcelona.

How good did he do?

Pretty damned good. De Simone took the title and 80,000 euros in winnings.

A mixed bag of Europeans, with the odd Mexican and Barbadian making their way to Barcelona over the weekend to compete in the competition.  The event saw 180 players buy-in to register and play in the No Limit Hold ’em main event tournament and the entrants managed to generate a prize pool of 270,000 euros.

The Italian, who qualified online, won with a straight flush.

De Simone, a regular on the Italian poker tournaments said, “I did not expect to win, I came to see what the Spanish Poker circuit was like”.

Now he knows.
