Frenchman Wins $169,968 at Romanian World Poker Tour Tournament

Let’s hear it for French businessman Guillaume Darcourt, 37, who won the Romanian tournament of the World Poker Tour in Bucharest this past weekend.

Darcourt won 125,846 euros, which translates to about $169,968 U.S. Dollars.

Gamebookers.com were the main sponsors of the events, which took place at the Novotel Bucharest City Centre Hotel.

Darcourt also took a $25,000 seat for the WPT World Championship that would be held a the Bellagio, in Vegas, at the end of the year.

There were around 161 players who had registered for the tournament which was a 3000 Euro + 300 Euro for the main event.

In the final table Darcourt had to play against Simon “schnibl0r? Munz who is a well known German online ace and a popular player at the PokerStrategy.com

Darcourt later said, ‘this win is amazing, I was eight in chips after the first day and chip leader at the end of day two. I was running really good on day three too but started to slip away. One hand changed the whole tournament for me. I was up against AA with A9 but hit a straight. I will always remember that hand.?

Munz had begun the final table as a chip leader but however lost to Darcourt, he showed great sportmanspirit and even saluted his opponent saying, “darcourt deserved to win.?
